About

Jeremy Verwys is a West Michigan musician, instructor and board-certified music therapist.

He has completed graduate degrees in both Guitar Performance and Music Therapy at Illinois State University, where he studied with Dr. Angelo Favis in guitar. He received his Bachelors of Music in performance from Grand Valley State University, studying with Carlos De la Barrera and an Associates degree from Grand Rapids Community College with instructors Andrew Bergeron and Brian Morris.

Jeremy Verwys has performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Calvin College Choral program, Hope College’s Dance Program, as well as with the dance faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp where he was commissioned in 2015 and 2016 to compose and perform original works. Mr. Verwys have participated in master-classes with renowned guitarists Thomas Viloteau, Marcin Dylla, Rene Izquierdo, Johannes Möller, and Jason Vieaux, along with private studies with Denis Azabagic. Jeremy divides his time performing, teaching, and instructing music at Cornerstone University and Grand Rapids Community College, as well as keeping a private studio in Grand Rapids, MI, and is the co-owner of West Michigan Music Therapy, LLC.

Offering Lessons in: Guitar, Ukulele, beginning piano and bass. Mr. Verwys also offers instruction in music theory, as well as preparing high school students for college music programs.

Rhythm Guitar

Ideal for guitarists that want to establish a solid foundation for playing rhythm guitar.

Lead Guitar

The lessons in this section are perfect for guitarists that are interested in playing guitar solos.

Basic Piano

These classes will teach you basic of piano.

Ukulele

If you're interested in learning Ukulele, these lessons are for you.

Bass

If you're interested in learning bass guitar, these lessons are for you.

Weddings & Performance

Bring live music into your wedding day or event.


The hiring party may choose from existing repertoire or *may choose different pieces/songs. Please feel free to contact me for rates/pricing. *A down payment is required to secure the date of the wedding *An additional fee may be required to learn new material. *Sound Equipment setup/rental is the responsibility of the hiring party. I provide my own microphones, cables and amp.
